Re:ADY B's Product gallery

Every piece below is one of a kind. Each is cut from a vintage kimono or obi that was destined to be discarded, then rebuilt by hand.

Kimono and obi are woven so that the pattern flows across the whole cloth. Where we cut decides what the finished piece looks like — which is why no two bags, jackets or accessories from Re:ADY B are ever the same. The gallery is a record of those individual decisions.

The work is divided between the people who do it best. Sewing is carried out with Type B employment support facilities in Hiroshima, where craftspeople with disabilities work at their own pace. Metal fittings come from Hiroshima Buddhist altar engraving, a traditional craft applied here to handbag hardware. Beads are TOHO BEADS. Nothing is mass-produced.

What you will find in this gallery

  • Bags — obi bags that keep the full width of the sash so the pattern is never cut through, and the MIKOSHI Series with its polishable brass handle.
  • Jackets, suits and dresses — kimono cloth tailored for daily and professional wear.
  • Accessories — card cases, straps, earrings and necklaces made from the smaller offcuts, so that as little as possible is wasted.
  • KIMONO ART and pop-up shops — exhibitions and events where the pieces are shown in person.

In 2026 our MIKOSHI Bag received the Gold Winner award at the London Design Awards in the Fashion Design category — the first Japanese company to do so.

Some pieces shown are already sold or held for exhibition. We can make something similar to order from our own stock of kimono and obi, or from cloth you send us. Made-to-order production takes approximately 12 weeks.

Every bag is cut from a different obi, so no two are alike. Below is a record of pieces we have made. Many have already found their owner.
