FAQ
About Re:ADY B
Q. What kind of brand is Re:ADY B?
Re:ADY B is an ethical fashion brand from Hiroshima that upcycles fabrics such as kimonos and obi that are on the verge of being discarded. Utilizing traditional beauty and craftsmanship, we create one-of-a-kind sustainable items such as bags, suits, accessories, small items, and semi-custom apparel.
Q. What is "upcycling"?
Upcycling is a method of adding new designs and value to used materials and products to transform them into something of higher value than their original state. Re:ADY B cuts and reconfigures kimonos and obi that have served their purpose, bringing them back to life as fashion items suitable for modern living.
Q. Where are the products made?
They are produced through a division of labor production system (Re:ADY B Method) with Type B employment support facilities in Hiroshima Prefecture, and in collaboration with traditional craft companies in Hiroshima. We aim to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities and to preserve traditional craft techniques.
Q. What social issues do you aim to solve?
We aim to solve four social issues: "kimono waste problem," "gender gap," "employment opportunity disparity for people with disabilities," and "decline of traditional craft techniques."
Q. Can I semi-order or customize items?
We offer semi-customization for some items, including our KIMONO coat. Please contact us via the inquiry page for more details.
Q. Where can I purchase items?
In addition to our official online store (https://readyb.store/), you can also purchase our products at our retail partners. Please check our news page for the latest availability.
Delivery, cancellation and returns
How long will my order take?
Approximately 12 weeks (within three months) for almost every product. Production begins once your payment is confirmed, and the shipping time is added after that — 2–7 business days within Japan, 7–21 business days internationally.
Why does it take that long?
Because nothing is made in advance. We buy kimono and obi that were about to be discarded, and each piece of cloth is different, so we make one item at a time after you order. Selecting the cloth alone takes up to three weeks. The sewing is done by hand at Type B employment support facilities in Hiroshima. See Made to order for the full breakdown.
Can I cancel after ordering?
Yes, before production begins. Email info@readyb.store as soon as possible and we will tell you where your order stands. Once we have cut the cloth it cannot be restored, so cancellation is no longer possible after that point.
Will I receive the exact item in the photograph?
No. No two obi carry the same pattern, and where the cloth is cut changes how the pattern falls. You choose the colour family; we choose the cloth. The photographs are examples of pieces we have made before. Because of this, we cannot accept returns based on the pattern being different from the images.
When does the 12 weeks start for a tailoring voucher?
From the day your fabric reaches our workshop, not the day you order. We check first whether the cloth is suitable and whether there is enough of it.
