OBI Bag
With "Leave it to us", you choose the color family; we choose the obi, and the pattern will differ from the photographs. With "Choose from whole obi", we email you photographs of candidate obi after you order, and begin making the bag once you have chosen. The twelve weeks begin once the obi is chosen.
Would you rather see the obi before deciding? Ask us before you order and we will send candidate photographs first.

Every item is made to order and one-of-a-kind. No two are exactly alike.
We unravel obi (kimono sashes) that were destined for disposal and meticulously handcraft each item after receiving your order.
Choosing the pattern (please read)
Each obi has unique patterns and weaves; no two obi with the same pattern exist. Furthermore, the appearance of the pattern changes significantly depending on where the obi is cut.
Therefore, we cannot deliver a product with the exact same pattern as the images shown. The photos displayed are examples of items previously created in that color scheme.
If you choose "Leave it to us", the colour family is as far as your choice goes. We select an obi within that family, make the bag and send it to you. We cannot take requests for a particular pattern, or for the exact piece shown in a photograph.
If you would rather decide the pattern yourself, choose Choose from whole obi. See "Choosing the obi" below.
We hope you embrace the "not knowing what pattern you'll receive" as part of the joy of owning a unique, one-of-a-kind item. You can view previous examples in our Gallery page.
Delivery Time
Production begins after payment confirmation, with an estimated delivery time of approximately 12 weeks. This time is required because the selection, cutting, and sewing of the obi are all done by hand.
Production is carried out in collaboration with employment support services (Type B) in Hiroshima Prefecture, where individuals with disabilities carefully craft each item.
8 Ways to Use
A detachable strap is included. In addition to being held as a clutch, it can be used as a shoulder bag or crossbody bag, depending on the occasion.

Made-to-order pieces & tailoring vouchers: production begins once payment is confirmed and takes approximately 12 weeks. For tailoring vouchers, the 12 weeks are counted from the day your fabric reaches us. For the OBI Bag with “Choose from whole obi”, they are counted from the day the obi is chosen. A tracking number is provided for every shipment.
Every piece is made from vintage kimono or obi, so no two are alike. Because the fabric is cut individually, the colour, pattern and texture differ with each item.
As each piece is finished by hand, there is natural variation in engraving, stitching and dimensions. These are characteristics of the product, not defects.
Product photographs are representative examples; the pattern on the piece you receive may differ.
For exact dimensions or material details on a specific piece, please contact info@sfdesign.co.jp and we will send you the details of the actual item.
Because every piece is one-of-a-kind or made to order, we cannot accept returns or exchanges based on customer preference (change of mind, sizing, or the pattern differing from expectation).
If your item arrives damaged, or differs from what you ordered, please contact us within 14 days of delivery and we will arrange a return or exchange.
Made-to-order pieces can be cancelled before production begins. Once production has started, cancellation is not possible.
See our Returns and Refunds Policy for full details.
