~ Taking a gamble with a precious kimono that has been passed down. Japanese culture revived in the modern business scene~

Setouchi Mirai Design Inc. (Headquarters: Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Representative Director: Karin Noda, hereinafter referred to as Setouchi Mirai Design) is pleased to announce that it has started accepting orders for "KIMONO SUIT," a semi-custom suit made from a kimono, from "Re:ADY B," an ethical fashion brand that upcycles fabric that would otherwise be discarded, starting January 7, 2025.

About "KIMONO SUIT"
Kimonos that have been lying dormant in the closet and that you rarely get a chance to wear can be reborn as a suit to wear on important business meetings. We wanted to upcycle kimonos other than the embroidered tomesode kimonos that are popular with foreigners and those with gorgeous Japanese patterns, so we developed semi-customizable suits and started taking orders for them. As kimonos have the issue of having to be dry-cleaned when they are washed, we came up with the idea of making suits that would normally be dry-cleaned. This is an original standard that allows you to wear important kimonos passed down from generation to generation on a daily basis.
We are currently taking orders for ladies' sets and two-tone skirts, and semi-custom sizes are available.

KIMONO SUIT "Setup"
This suit is a top and bottom set made from upcycled kimonos. The more men's kimonos and the more subdued the patterns, the more elegant they look, making this a great item for working women who rarely have the opportunity to wear kimonos inherited from their parents' generation. You can choose the color of the buttons on the collarless jacket. The fabric is cut high on the waist to enhance your figure, and the shoulders have a unique design that makes use of the original seams of the kimono. Pair it with a mid-length straight skirt to create a unique work outfit that you will want to wear in formal situations. We will make it from a kimono in our stock, or one that you have lying around at home.

KIMONO SUITS "Bicolor Skirt"

A flared skirt with an adjuster at the waist. We will suggest a fabric that will match the pattern, color, and material of your kimono, as well as the color of the waist string. It can be worn stylishly for both formal and everyday occasions.

Currently, it takes approximately 1 to 2 months to produce both the set-up and the bicolor skirt.
*Production will proceed on a first-come, first-served basis.*Due to limited resources, if we receive multiple orders at the same time, the delivery date may be delayed. We will inform you of the delivery date individually each time.

Future developments

Currently, we only offer products for women, but we have received requests from men as well, so we are planning to produce tailored jackets with collars. In the future, we plan to start selling ready-made products made from kimonos in stock. We aim to expand both domestically and overseas with designs that suit modern lifestyles while taking advantage of the original beauty of the fabric.

About Re:ADY B
Re:ADY B's philosophy is to create an environment where everyone involved can work in a rewarding way and be themselves, while growing together as a business and people. By using the power of beautiful materials (such as kimonos and obi) that already exist in this world, born from the techniques that Japan has nurtured since ancient times, we are tackling the issue of mass waste that is a problem in the apparel industry and building a new brand concept. Our mission is to solve social issues related to the working styles of people with disabilities and women, and we will first work with domestic companies and organizations, and by making Setouchi Mirai Design the hub of the project, we will expand the scale of our business and grow into a JAPAN brand that we can be proud of around the world.
